Flore. An early start on Thursday took the party by coach to Guerlédan where they walked on the bed of a drained reservoir, then onwards to La Salle des Forges, an ancient steelworks. Friday started with a guided tour of the old town of Hennebont before the official planting of a magnolia by the Hennebont mayor with representatives of the Twinning Association and Mumbles Community Council.

   In the evening the formal ceremonies included formal speeches, the signing of a renewed twinning charter, exchanges of gifts, music, dancing and a communal dinner for about a hundred people. On Saturday the hosts individually took their guests on various day trips to neighbouring Brittany. A brilliantly unforgettable visit finished with a grand départ on Sunday morning.

Twinning anniversary celebrated in Hennebont

A 16-strong party from Mumbles visited Hennebont to participate in the official celebrations on Friday 19th September of the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Mumbles–Hennebont twinning charter. After an informal welcome for the party when they all arrived on Tuesday September 15th, the visitors were taken by their various family hosts to their accommodation for the week.

   For the intervening days a full agenda of activities was organised for both visitors and hosts. On Wednesday an excursion by boat around the bay of Lorient ended at the German wartime Keroman submarine base, followed by a guided visit to the decommissioned French submarine
