Mumbles visitors to the Festival Interceltique de Lorient

Story by Sarah Lever, August 2016

We had the most amazing time enjoying Celtic music and dancing far into the night with the added luxury of the most fantastic weather. Our hosts in Hennebont were generous beyond belief. We were lucky enough to hear The Friel Sisters, an Irish group, sing and play followed by a group from Galicia on the Saturday evening. Joan Baez and Alan Stivell were also singing that night but tickets sold out rather quickly! On Sunday morning we went to the Grand Parade and saw the groups taking part led by the Australian contingent who were the chosen representative country this year. In the evening we went to Le Grande Spectacle when the groups danced and played for us. Wales was represented by the Aber Valley Male Voice Choir and a wonderful harpist and singer. This was followed by a fantastic firework display. On Monday we wandered around the Fringe Festival listening to groups performing and then joined in Breton dancing with the local people. All in all it could not have been a more enjoyable holiday. We cannot wait to go again next year.

Foneddigion, boneddigesau, anwyl gyfeillion, hoffwn i trio ddweud ychydig o eiriau mewn tair o ein pedair iaith. (Yn anffodus ni allaf siarad unrhyw Lydaweg!) Rydym yn hapus iawn ac yn anrhydedd i croesawu ein ffrindiau o Hennebont i ein cartref. Y llynedd cawsom amser mor gwych yn Hennebont, a gosododd chi safon uchel iawn i ni, ond yr ydym yn gwneud ein gorau i ei ymateb. Rydym yn gobeithio, ar ddiwedd yr wythnos hon pan byddwch yn dychwelyd adref, bydd lawer o atgofion hapus gydach chi o’ch amser yn y Mwmbwls. A dewch eto, os gwelwch yn dda: yr ydym i gyd yn edrych ymlaen at eich gweld yma eto.
