New officers elected at the AGM
At our AGM on Friday 22nd January, several new officers were elected while other existing officers moved into new positions. A new Chair, David Townsend Jones, was elected, and we also have a new Secretary, Carrie T Jones. Jean Bunce becomes Vice Chair, and Julian Smith remains as Treasurer and Hennebont visit organiser. Professor Prys Morgan continues as Honorary President.
We also decided to set up a subcommittee for
fund raising and organising visits from Hennebont to Mumbles, and another to start the long overdue task of formally creating a TAM archive.
‘Gower’s great houses’ a big hit!
All tickets were sold for Professor Prys Morgan’s talk on ‘The Great Houses of Gower’ at Norton Village Hall on Friday 11th March. His highly entertaining and informative tour around Gower’s past had his audience enthralled. Our very successful evening was rounded off with home-cooked cawl or home-grown artichoke soup. Details of more TAM talks will follow soon.
New French discussion group
Our new exceedingly informal French discussion group is a popular event. We meet on the third Monday of each month, members taking turn as hosts. A topic for discussion is chosen beforehand, such as ‘My latest holiday’ or ‘My favourite book’.
Visitors from Mumbles joined their hosts in a Breton folk dance after the anniversary celebrations in Hennebont, in September 2015.
A bracing day promoting TAM at the Mumbles Farmers’ Market.
